Back to the base and old blogger..

It’s been fun (funny?) to try out a blog system of my own only for me to realise afterwards that I do not have time and energies to keep up the mounting tasks of managing such a pretentious adventure. I’ll however keep the domain for a while.

A conversation with a fella

without comments

Yasir[crazy]forwarded

This is what happened today. I had to call this fella Jawad from Daily Times, he’s a cracker when it comes to cracking jokes!

Moi: Assalam O Alaikum, Sir!
Jawad: Hello! (couldn’t recognize)
Moi introduces himself..
Jawad: You’re one of the ugliest persons I’ve ever met. Where the hell are you?
*Moi laughs on the top of his lungs*
Moi: Thanks for the compliments Sir! (and this is typical army-wala Sir)
Converstation continues..

Off the record, he is one of finest from the leftover-human-beings. We’ve only met twice and that too only for a few minutes, but feel like we know each other for ages. Happens.

what the heck!

with 2 comments

So, traditionally, this might suck as well but this is a shitty world. You gotta watch youself, mind you. People tend to promise what they can’t deliver, at all. Or perhaps, don’t want to. But rather more important is ending the term on a positive note. Well, it’s not related to the post actually but one of the good young writers I silently admire has quit writing for his blog, or atleast says so. What’s wrong with people, when people start admiring they somehow become a jughead. Anyways, if detracked is the fate, I just recalled what I marked when we passed out from the school:

jinhein jurm-e-ishq pe naaz tha, woh gunah-gar chalay gaye

Common Sense

with 2 comments

Smudgy here reminded me of a chain-riddle heard when I was a child. I’m not sure if I can deliver it perfectly now, but anyhow, here it is:

Q1: How do you put a Giraffe in a fridge?
Ans: Open the door, put Giraffe inside, close the door.

Q2: How do you put an Elephant in a fridge?
Ans: You blurted “open the door, put Elephant inside, close the door”? Wrong answer! The right answer is: Open the door, pull Giraffe out, put Elephant in.

See, common sense! Okay, third question. Don’t think for too long, though.

Q3: A freight plane is carrying electronics, suddenly it starts jolting. Pilot says that the plane is overloaded and we need to get rid of the heaviest item. What item would they throw out?
Ans: Fridge. Because it has elephant in it!

Q4: Today is Lion King’s birthday and every animal in the jungle is to attend his birthday party. Everyone’s there but one is missing. Can you tell who?
Ans: Elephant. Because he’s in the fridge, remember.

Easy one, eh?

Q5: A guy is standing beside a pool, just as he’s to jump into the water, he dies. Why?
Ans: Fridge falling from the sky hits him.

Q6: You’re to cross through a stream in the jungle filled with crocodiles. There’s no bridge or boat, how would you cross it?
Ans: Swim! Remember, crocodiles are attending Lion King’s birthday party!

I’m sorry if this causes mental torture, but if you’re a kid or just had an overdose of caffeine, I hope you can see the riddle through.

Time out

with one comment

Listen, I know I’m being lazy, or atleast it seems so, else I would have put up every good link here and tell you many insteresting things. Life is just a crap sometimes. I’m aching; need to fetch an energy drink somehow but the store is so far. Yesterday I took longest sleep of the whole month: 6 hrs. I hope I would get more when I go home.

Aapi is not going to Muzaffarabad anymore. Okay, I admit that I was apprehensive but I don’t know for sure what changed her mind. Anyhow, sometimes decisions are supposed to be changed for good. By the way, I try to support loved ones in whatever decision they make.

While you’re thinking that I’m just being sloppy with life, I somehow hammered out a merger with a big company. Today, we merge. Tomorrow, we grow Inshallah. Think you have to deal with seth mentality for a business merger; it’s sickening! Took me and Aamer three days of exhaustive sessions to make a deal. Aamer was on the verge of bailing out but I stayed (and made him stay as well). And it proved to be fruitful. Big season ahead, tremendous amount of work. Yoohoooo, tomorrow I’ll moving to our new business place.

Ah, I still have to reply to Hasan’s tag. I’ll do it when Aamer is not watching!

My patriotism is a fake

with one comment

I wear Western outfits made with Thai material. I use Japanese Electronics. My watch is Swiss. I watch English and Indian movies. I read a left-wing anti-government English Newspaper and think the same. My tongue frequently slip into English even when I’m talking to my 2 year old cousin. I love queuing in front of US and British Embassies for a visa, for long hours everyday and not fret. While I can’t stand a queue when I’m to receive a ticket from a Railway station counter. I hate right-wing mullahs and think they are all evil creatures. I confess following Micheal Jackson recent fall of the fame with great intrigue. I’m fed on western channels lately and can’t remember the year when I last saw a glimpse of PTV. I ride my motor cycle without silencer on the 14th August every year. But hey, I’m a Pakistani. Atleast, my ID card says so. And I just bought a green flag for the independence day. Thus I’m a geniune Pakistani!

اردو بلاگگنگ کیسے؟

with one comment

Luqmân’s Advice to his Son

with 2 comments

The Qur’ân contains ten precious advices Luqmân offered his son. Following is the list of this advice offered to Muslim parents, that they may communicate them to their children, family and members of society that they may implement them. If this valuable advice is followed and implemented then we will all be on the straight Path leading to Paradise. Luqmân himself summed up in a few words the way to succeed in this life and on the Day of Judgement.

1. Luqmân warns his son against the greatest injustice man can do. Allâh said that Luqmân said:

“O my son! Join not in worship others with Allâh. Verily, joining others in worship with Allâh is a great injustice indîd.” [31:13]

Luqmân calls his son: “My Son”. To do so catches his son’s attention so that he may listen carefully to his father . Then he calls his son’s attention to Tawhid. ” Shirk,” Luqmân said:” Is a great injustice indeed “.

Therefore, the one who associates others with Allâh in worship does injustice to Allâh, the owner and Creator of the universe. A great injustice is also done to the Mushrik: he subjects himself to Allâh’s anger and eternal punishment in Hell.

2. Luqmân reminds his son of the rights of his parents on him,

“and We have enjoined on man to be dutiful and good to his parents. His mother bore him upon weakness and hardship” [31:14]

He describes hardships mothers face bearing children.

“And his weaning is in two years, give thanks to Me and to your parents. Unto Me is the final destination.” [31 :14]

Luqmân mentions the total dependence of infants on their mothers for two years. Thank Allâh, and then your parents . In not, then the final destination is to Allâh.

“And if they both strive with you to make you join in worship with me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindly.” [31:15]

Luqmân tells his son that if the parents are Mushrikîn, then do not follow their way: Allâh’s right comes first by far. Even so. for as long as the live, treat your Mushrik parents with kindness.

3. Luqmân then describes some of Allâh’s Might.

“O my son! If it be equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and tough it be as a rock, or in the Heavens or the earth, Allâh will bring it forth. Verily Allâh is subtle in bringing out that grain, well aware of its place.” [31:16]

Allâh’s Knowledge is so perfect that the existence of anything, big or small, is acknowledged and controlled by Him. Luqmân tries to impress his son reminding him of Allâh’s absolute control over His kingdom. Such might and power must not be challenged or ignored by anyone.

4. A great advice to Luqman’s son is to establish regular prayer, on time and with the best possible performance,

“O my son! Offer prayer perfectly.” [31:17]

Prayer is the direct connection between a Muslim and his Creator. Parents must take great care to teach and call upon their children to establish prayer.

5. Luqmân advises his son to

“enjoin (people) for good, and forbid from evil.” [31:17]

If every Muslim observe this duty , then evil and mischief will have no place in Muslim society.

6. After the useful advice he offered his son, Luqmân recommended patience in implementing them, and in all matters of life,

“And bear with patience whatever befalls you. Verily, these are some of the important commandments ordered by Allâh with no exemption.” [31:17]

Patience is a righteous act ordered, and rewarded by Allâh.

7. Arrogance is an attribute of Allâh alone and not for man.

The Creator and Owner of the universe is the only One who deserves to be Arrogant. Allâh threatens arrogant people with punishment in Hellfire. Luqmân said:

“And turn not your face away from men with pride.” [31:18]

8. To be moderate is a great attitude anyone can possess,

“Nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily Allâh likes not each arrogant boaster.” [31:18]

Allâh does not like that man is arrogant and proud of themselves.

9. To be moderate in walking and talking is also one of Luqman’s advises to his son,

“And be moderate (or show no insolence) in walking.” [31:19]

Islâm offers a code of conduct in every aspect of life. Even the way Muslims walk and talk are regulated. Islam offers guidelines in this regard that will produce the best behavior and generate respect.

10. Luqmân reminds his son that being harsh while talking will liken his voice to the braying of a donkey. Shouting does not win hearts, rather , it will offend and alienate people,

“And lower your voice. Verily the harshest of all voices is the voice (braying] of an ass!!” [31:19]

Luqmân shows great wisdom in his advice to his son. If Muslims parents take his example, and have their children implement these advises, then by Allâh’s permission our Ummah will be successful.

Look up Quran in MSN Messenger

without comments

From: Umair’s Blog

Assalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh everyone,

Add quranbot@amirbutler.com to your msn messenger as a contact, and you can look up the arabic or english for any qur’aanic ayah. You will need to wait for it to log on, and as soon as it does, you can open a window and look up ayahs by simply typing;

quran 11 115

or

aquran 11 115

In the fist case, the English translation of surah 11, verse 115 will be displayed.

In the second case, the Arabic text of surah 11, verse 115 will be displayed.

This is a program that someone has written, and masha Allah it works well. You can even get a range of ayahs as follows:

quran 11 115-117

This will display the translation of surah 11, verses 115, 116 and 117.

Note: Its not always online, but when it is, its very useful. I’m not sure if they’re planning on making it stay on all the time, but you can email them at quranbot@amirbutler.com if you have any questions insha Allah. I personally do not know who made this program, but I find it very useful so I wanted to share it.

Wassalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh. Enjoy!
